Polish scientists, once again, can apply for scholarships for mobility and conducting research in the best centers around the world under the Bekker NAWA program.

Thanks to the Bekker NAWA program, Polish scientists have the opportunity to complete a postdoctoral internship or carry out research projects in cooperation with scientists from around the world. As part of doctoral education, they can also obtain materials for scientific work and establish cooperation and contacts with foreign research teams.

“This program is a unique opportunity for all scientists. It gives PhD students and scientists working in Polish research units the opportunity to go on scholarships to the best academic and research centers around the world. The program enjoys unflagging popularity.Every year, the group of beneficiaries of the program is expanding, as is the list of scientific and research centers where they implement their projects,” said Dr. Dawid Kostecki, Director of NAWA.

Nearly 800 scholarship holders of previous editions of the Bekker NAWA programme have already benefited from this. The most frequently chosen research centers were in the United States, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, France, Australia, Canada and Japan, and the most prestigious institutions include: University of Oxford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Humboldt University, University of Cambridge, Harvard University, Princeton University, CERN and Sorbonne University.

Traditionally, the most widely represented discipline is natural sciences, followed by technical, social, humanities, medical and agricultural sciences.

Changes in financing will increase the support provided to program participants not only in terms of the amount of the scholarship, but also the costs of living, accommodation and travel, also taking into account the needs of people with disabilities or beneficiaries with children.

The call for applications in this year’s edition is open from 21 March to 31 May 2024.

Applications must be submitted electronically only through the NAWA’s ICT system.
