The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), announces the opening of the call for proposals under the programme Joint Research Projects between Poland and Germany.
The programme aims to support the mobility of researchers engaged in joint research projects carried out by Polish and German partner institutions, thereby strengthening bilateral scientific cooperation.
Programme Objective
The primary objective of the programme is to facilitate the implementation of joint research projects agreed upon and conducted collaboratively by eligible institutions from the Republic of Poland and the Federal Republic of Germany. The programme supports the mobility of research teams, enabling the exchange of knowledge, expertise and research methodologies.
Eligible Applicants
Applications may be submitted by entities operating within the Polish system of higher education and science, including:
- higher education institutions,
- research institutes,
- other entities specified in the applicable legislation.
Each project must be submitted in parallel by:
- the Polish partner to NAWA, and
- the German partner to DAAD.
The Project Leader on the Polish side must:
- be employed by the applicant institution,
- hold at least a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) at the time of the application deadline.
Research teams may include academic staff and, where relevant, students actively participating in the project.
Scope of Activities
Applicants may submit proposed projects in any field of science. The programme supports activities related to the implementation of research projects, with a particular emphasis on international collaboration and the development of sustainable research partnerships.
Duration and Funding
- Project duration: 1 January 2027 – 31 December 2028
- Maximum funding per project: 40,000 PLN
- Total programme budget: 400,000 PLN
Funding provided by NAWA covers:
- travel costs (lump sum: 1,500 PLN per person for a round trip),
- subsistence costs (400 PLN per day).
Evaluation Procedure
Applications will undergo a formal and substantive evaluation in accordance with NAWA regulations. The assessment will be conducted independently in both partner countries.
The evaluation criteria include:
- scientific quality and innovation of the project,
- qualifications and experience of the research teams,
- relevance and added value of international cooperation,
- feasibility and methodology of the proposed research,
- involvement of early-career researchers.
Representatives of both countries will jointly select the projects recommended for funding.

The deadline for submission of applications is:
30 June 2026, 15:00 (CET, Polish local time)
