In the finals of the International Future Energy Challenge (IFEC) 2025, a team of students from Warsaw University of Technology triumphed over top teams from countries including Taiwan, India, and the USA, securing the grand prize of $10,000.
The International Future Energy Challenge (IFEC) is an annual undergraduate student competition in the design, implementation, and testing of power electronic systems. Team of students from Warsaw University of Technology was the first in history to qualify for the final stage of this prestigious power electronics design competition, competing against teams from the world’s leading universities.
The winning team comprises students from two student research groups – DREN and PEPA RG – operating within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology. The team members are: Błażej Skrzypkowski, Przemysław Kinasz, Michał Ptak, Paweł Wodzyński, Adrianna Machulak, Jakub Pykacz, Adrian Ośka, Tomasz Zakrzewski and Natalia Wnęk.
The academic supervisors of the team are MSc Krzysztof Kalinowski and Prof. Jacek Rąbkowski.
As part of the competition, students from around the world designed a DC-DC converter that had to meet specific requirements: 1.5 kW output power, 400 V input voltage, and a programmable 20–150 V output with low ripple content.
