The (SNSF) has selected 29 international research projects to receive funding under the MAPS (Multilateral Academic Projects) programme, supported by the Swiss Contribution. Among them, 11 projects include a partner institution from Poland. The total value of the funded projects exceeds 29 million Swiss francs.
MAPS Multilateral Academic Projects is a multilateral funding scheme of the Swiss National Science Federation (SNSF) that promotes multilateral collaborative research projects between researchers in Switzerland and their colleagues in Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Poland and Romania.
According to information from the National Science Centre (NCN), the MAPS call attracted 334 proposals. Ultimately, 29 projects were awarded funding:
- 8 in the group of humanities, social sciences, and arts,
- 8 in the life sciences group,
- 13 in the group of exact sciences and engineering.
Polish institutions are involved in 11 of these funded projects.

The maximum funding that a single team from each country could receive was 350,000 francs. All costs of the Polish part of the project are covered by the SNSF within the framework of the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme, also known as the Swiss Funds.
The MAPS programme is part of the broader Swiss Contribution, which supports the development of several EU countries, including Poland, under a bilateral agreement with the European Union.
Projects can last between 36 and 48 months. The MAPS call supported multilateral basic research projects across all scientific disciplines. Each international consortium was required to include a Swiss lead partner and at least two additional partners from the other eligible countries.
