The European Research Council (ERC) supports creative and cutting edge research ideas in all areas of knowledge. Interdisciplinary projects with high scientific risk, leading to important discoveries and breakthrough results are highly valued. The classic division into basic and applied research does not matter: research must be cognitive, pioneering, and go beyond the current limits of knowledge.
The ERC funds several types of research grants:
- ERC Starting Grant – for beginning researchers, 2-7 years after doctorate: up to EUR 1.5 million for a project lasting up to 5 years,
- ERC Consolidator Grant – for scientists on the threshold of their research independence, 7-12 years after their doctorate: up to EUR 2 million for a project lasting up to 5 years,
- ERC Advanced Grant – for experienced scientists with recognized scientific achievements: up to EUR 2.5 million for a project lasting up to 5 years.
- Programme for: experienced scientists with recognized scientific achievements within the last 10 years
- Research field: proposals of any research field are evaluated within 27 scientific panels. More info: LINK.
