We kindly inform you that on January 4, 2022, the first international competition under the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC) partnership was launched. The main goal of this competition is to move the application to exascala. This requires significant changes, and in some cases, current application codes cannot run on exascale or post-exascale systems without full thought or significant code rewriting. Action at European level is needed to support this transition in cooperation with the relevant communities that are key to the evolution of the codes. Changes supporting the transition to exascale must take into account the heterogeneity of most architectures, the scalability and resilience of the code, and the management of complex exascale workflows. The competition is part of EuroHPC’s broader strategy of training and skills to develop talent for Europe’s world-class supercomputing ecosystem
