A groundbreaking fully electric robot, able to collect over 8 kilograms of waste in just 10 minutes, has been introduced on Stogi Beach in Gdańsk — the first device of its kind in Poland.

BeBot is an autonomous, solar-powered robot designed to efficiently remove waste such as cigarette butts, glass, plastic, and bottle caps from the sand — items that are often difficult to collect using traditional cleaning methods. The robot operates quietly and emits no exhaust fumes, making it ideal for use on public beaches without disturbing visitors. It is estimated that with daily use, BeBot can collect up to 27.5 tons of waste over six months.

What sets BeBot apart is its fully electric drive, powered in part by solar panels mounted on its body. In addition to being eco-friendly, the robot sifts sand more precisely than other similar machines, improving overall beach cleanliness.

“During testing, BeBot collected around 8.5 kg of waste in just 10 minutes, including cigarette butts, pieces of glass, plastic, and bottle caps. This demonstrates the high effectiveness of the technology in removing small pollutants that are often missed during standard beach cleaning. The environmental aspects of the robot’s work were also very important to us — BeBot operates without disturbing the natural structure of the beach. Environmental protection and caring for nature are fundamental elements of Baltic Hub’s ESG strategy,” said Dominika Milion, Director of Sustainability at Baltic Hub.

BeBot is remotely operated by a user who can be up to 300 meters away. It digs into the sand up to a depth of 10 cm, filtering out debris like cigarette butts, food wrappers, bottle caps, and plastic lids, storing them in a special container. With a cleaning capacity of up to 3,000 square meters per hour, BeBot is both effective and efficient — setting a new standard for sustainable beach maintenance in Poland.

BeBot’s purchase was funded by Baltic Hub as part of the company’s environmental protection initiatives. The device was officially presented on Stogi Beach, where it will be regularly deployed.
