Medical University of Wroclaw has been recognized as the top Polish university in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025 (THE WUR 2025), placing in the 501-600 range. The next places belong to the Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw, which were ranked in the 601-800 range.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings have been published annually since 2010 by the British magazine Times Higher Education. It reveals the top universities with the best reputations, as determined by academics around the world.
This year’s edition evaluated nearly 2,100 universities worldwide, an increase of 100 institutions from the previous year. Notably, the number of Polish universities in the ranking has increased to 40, with 37 in the previous edition. The best result was achieved by the Medical University of Wroclaw, which has held the title of the best medical university in Poland for three consecutive years.
The next places belong to the Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw, which were ranked in the 601-800 range. The Medical University of Lodz was ranked at places 801-1000 in THE WUR 2025, while the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan, AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, the Gdansk University of Technology, the Medical University of Bialystok, the Medical University of Gdansk and the Medical University of Warsaw were ranked at places 1001-1200. Further down the list are the Medical University of Lublin, the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun (places 1201-1500).
The Times Higher Education WUR 2025 ranking is based on the WUR 3.0 methodology, with the evaluation criteria grouped into five areas – teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.
